About GBS

If you are surprised by what this tab is all about, well here it goes!

In majority of my posts, I would be saying GBS did this to me, GBS did that to me. So, there is an obvious need to explain what exactly GBS is!

Guillain-Barre Syndrome is in short known as GBS. The name sounds scary right? So is the syndrome! I have personally experienced what GBS is, at the age of 15! I should admit that, post-GBS, my life has gone for a complete makeover and it is the sole reason for what I am right now.

So, I would briefly describe what it is all about. GBS is an autoimmune disease that affects the peripheral nervous system. GBS, usually preceded by a viral or a bacterial infection, attacks our body's immune system by mistake, when fighting against the infection. This causes a complete paralysis of the nervous system, leaving us disabled. Good things about GBS is that, most times, paralysis is often reversible and the death rate is very less. Not to forget, the recovery rate is very slow in several cases and can also leave you partially disabled. Also, GBS takes several forms which varies in complexity of the attack and recovery.

Through my posts, I will give the feel of what GBS is like. For now, this short description should suffice.
